Our commitment to sustainable energy

Solar array on the roof of Wire Belt Company

Integrity and innovation in our practices promote growth of our company and earn respect and trust. We hope to earn that not just from our customers but from all our fellow inhabitants of this planet – which is why we are constantly committed to implementing sustainable technology and policies in our facilities. We take our environmental practices very seriously, being one of the few manufacturing companies to be ISO 14001 registered, with audited programs to reduce, reuse, remove, and recycle. We won the Lean & Green Award twice, in 2008 and again in 2011, and even still we continue to look for ways to improve our business and cut our carbon footprint alongside costs.

We have stepped up our sustainable practices by offsetting more of our electrical usage with two expansions to our existing rooftop solar array. We worked with Brentwood, NH-based ReVision Energy to install 51.15 kilowatts in 2011, and in May of 2018 an additional 123.22 kilowatts to bring us to a total 274 kilowatt grid-tied solar electric system.

When the sun is shining, 1,042 solar panels on the roof of our manufacturing headquarters produce electricity that is either used in real-time by our facility, or fed back to the grid where it benefits our community (and earns us a credit). Each year, the system will generate roughly 289,933 kilowatt-hours (kWhs) of electricity, offsetting the equivalent of driving over 528,856 miles – nearly 60 times the perimeter of the United States – in a gas-powered car. This energy production is all just from our Londonderry headquarters – our facilities in the UK and Germany are also solar-powered, reducing our footprint internationally.
