Compact Grid has been designed with a sprocket supported positive drive system. This provides Compact Grid with a no-slip forward drive, and excellent tracking capabilities. Many competitive belt designs are friction driven, which can cause slippage, and may require expensive belt tracking devices to be added to your conveyor system.
The drive set for Compact Grid is made up of a three-piece sprocket sandwich comprised of one tracking guide centered between two drive sprockets (Figure 1). While the idler set consists of one tracking guide centered between two idler blanks (Figure 2). These three-piece component sets are then positioned approximately every 6” (150mm) across the width of the drive and idler shafts (Figure 3). The appropriate drive and idler shaft sets, and direction of travel, are shown below (Figure 4).

Please Note:
Initially, the drive and idler components, along with their associated tracking guides, will have to be purchased in appropriate ratios to make up the required sets. This will ensure proper operation and tracking of the belt on the conveyor. However, the drive-sprockets, idler-blanks, and tracking guides, will also be available separately for repair and replacement purposes. This provides customers with the economy and flexibility of being able to acquire only the parts that they need, when they need them. Our Sales and Tech Services Team can help with specifying the appropriate drive and idler layouts for almost any conveyor.
